Barkway VOR/DME, 1 July 2005

South-West of Cambridge you find Royston. Take the A10 from Royston to the South. After 2.5 miles ( 4 km) you go left at Reed, to Reed and Barkway. Go through Barkway to Nuthampstead. Follow the road in Nuthampstead. It looks like a dead end, but you will get a kind of 'farm roads'. Go left and at the next fork right.
Beware: at his spot the road goes to the end of the runway!
So take care and keep your eyes open for aeroplanes. At the crossing at the end of the runway go right. After about 500 yards you will see the VOR-DME on the RHS. The road you’re on goes to the south-west of the former runway, and from there north-east back to the road fork near Nuthampstead.
