Compton VOR/DME CPT, 4 July 2005

We came along the A4 and took junction 13 (Chieveley) to the A34 towards Oxford. On the A34 we took the first exit, at the next crossing go to the right towards Hermitage. When in Hermitage you take the B4009 which leads to Hampstead Norreys - Streatley. About two miles after you have passed Hampstead Norreys you see Haw Farm on the LHS. Behind the farm is a piece of woodland. On both sides of this piece of woodland is a public footpath. The footpath before the wood crosses a farm yard.
Find a place to park and take one of both footpaths. Where a road crosses the footpath turn left. Beware, this road is used by farm traffic and also by aeroplanes. After 750 metres the road bends to the right and you will see the beacon at the end of the road. While you walk in that direction you will see the airstrip on the RHS.
