Back to beacon list.

Lamborne VOR/DME LAM, 26 June 2005.

This beacon is located at the south/east corner of Stapleford Aerodrome. We didn’t get permission to go to this beacon over the airport roads. We used the following route to make the pictures of this beacon.
We came via the A127 and A12 from Southend-on-Sea. On the A12 we took the turn to the A1112 towards Chigwell Row. There you choose right towards Lambourne End. Go straight on and at the T-junction to the right. Take the first road to the left. At T-junction (B175) choose left. After 500 metre there are some houses on both sides of the road. Along the last house on the LHS is a public footpath. Please don’t park on the mowed grass in front of the houses.
Walk along the footpath and you will see the beacon. A telephoto lens is a must on this site, unless you walk on to get near to this beacon.

Tourist information:
Follow the B175 to the north, after 1¼ miles (2 km) go left onto the A113. After 1½ miles (2½ km) along the road is a very narrow road to Lambourne Church. At the end of this road you will find a nice church with parts of it built as early as 1100 en 1200 AD.

The VOR/DME at Lambourne is located in a beautiful landscape.
