Cahors Lalbenque Locator CL, August 5th 2009

The beacon CL is located 8 km northwest from the runway of Lalbenque airport, in line with the runway near the village of Labastide Marnhac.

Wim told: There I stood, just on a hill near Labastide Marnhac. It was a hot august day. Behind me terrain with a good view over the surroundings, mostly wine fields, in front of me hilly terrain with trees and scrubs. And with some expensive houses along the road. I had driven on at this road but with no result. Because of the trees and scrubs there was no good view.
So it was time for some old fashion taking of bearings. With the radio – it was to hot for heavier stuff – I walked to the left, then to the right and then along the edge of the forest. Here I noticed the 10 kVolt line en thinking of one of the Rodez beacon I walked to it. Below the line the trees and scrubs where kept short, making that I had a view over the woods and yes, I had also a view at a part of the beacon antenna.

Route from Cahors to CL, ca 11 km – 15 min.
Start in south east direction at the Avenue Anatole de Monzie/D290 to the Rue de la Mercie and follow the D920a over 1.6 km. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the D820/Route de Toulouse direction Villeneuve-sur-Lot/Agen. After 1.4 km take exit 4 at the roundabout to stay at the D820/Route de Toulouse direction A20/Le Montat/Montauban/Castelnau-Montratier/Lalbenque. After 4.2 km turn right and after 900 metres turn right again. After 300 metres turn left onto a forest road and you see the beacon after 200 metres.
