Back to the beacon list.

Rolampont VOR/DME RLP, August 11th 2009

Wim went to this beacon for miles along the ‘peage’ (Toll road.) Then of course he had to use the nice and narrow country lanes to come near to the beacon. He did see a nice hill and was thinking: “just the place for a VOR/DME.” And it was the place for the VOR/DME. The gate is open and in front of the building is a car parked. On top of the building are two men at work. They are working with a sealant gun.
After 15 minutes the men got curious and where asking him what his business at the gate was. Wim explained about the site and they told him that there is no possibility to make a sound recording. The transmitter power amplifier who is connected to the antenna has become a defect. The VOR part of the beacon is therefore 4 days of the air.

Route from Langres to RLP, ca 11 km – 13 min.
Start in direction north at the Aveneue Jean-Ernst Darbot/N19 to the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. Follow the N19 over 6.4 km, going straight over one roundabout. At the D3 turn right onto the D3 (signs for D3/Arc-en-Barrois/Beauchemin.) After 4.4 km at the D3 turn right onto the path going leading to the beacon.

Soundrecording is made at 9 November 2009.
