VOR/DME TIS, Thiers, 9 August 2010

Wim writes in his travel report:
From VOR CF (Clermont-Ferrand) I go to Thiers for the VOR/DME TIS. Thiers looks nice for tourists, built against a steep hill. Unfortunately also with many successive crossings and Miss Mio (GPS) cannot keep up. But after a lot of driving back and forth I arrive at the right route up the hill/mountain. At the end of a path I see the top of the DME and I see the shed with the transmitters. The rest is out of sight on top of a flattened hilltop, surrounded by a high fence.
I end up taking the photos, finding my way there like “Alice did into Wonderland.”
This beacon is not on the May 2025 GEN 2.5 list.
