Düsseldorf VOR/DME DUS, 5 June 2008.

This beacon is located at the airport of Dusseldorf in between two runways. Like on all big airports there are high fences around the runways. Wim climbed a fire-escape at the outside of an airport building. After seeing the beacon, he mounted the telephoto lens at the tripod and went up again to take the pictures shown on this page.

Route from LI to DUS
Start from the path at the side of the antenna field at LI to the Essener Straße/L441 and go left onto the Essener Straße/L441. After 0.7 km. you will come at the Am Sondert/B227, turn right onto it. After 1.2 km at the roundabout take the 1st turn onto the B227/Kölner Straße. Stay on this road for 1.9 km. After passing the viaduct turn left (signs to Düsseldorf/A52/Köln/Krefeld/Oberhausen/A3) onto the approach road of the A52. Follow this road -A52/Düsseldorf- for 6.9 km. Take the exit to the A44 direction Mönchengladbach, stay on this road for 3.3 km. Take exit 31-Düsseldorf-Flughafen direction D.-Lichtenbroich. Keep left at the fork. After 0.4 km, gentle curve to the left. After 0.3 km, take at the roundabout the 1st turn. After 0.2 km, go right, direction Flughafenstraße. After about 800 m we found a spot where, from the fire stairs of a building – terminal for passengers of business jets – we could view the DUS beacon.
