Spijkerboor VOR/DME SPY, 1 October 2005.

Spijkerboor is in Noord-Holland between Krommenie and De Rijp. But beware. At Spijkerboor is a crossing of canals; the Knollendammer vaart, the Noord Hollandsch Kanaal and the Beemster ringvaart. The beacon is in the surroundings of the former fort Spijkerboor (see photo NDB SPY.)
From the N8/N246 at Krommenie you go to the north onto the N246. Go right at the crossing with the N244 towards De Rijp
Or from the A7 - Purmerend Noord - exit 6, take here the N244 until you are at De Rijp.
At De Rijp you go south. (industrial estate) Follow this road until you are at the crossing of waterways. Go left over the bridge. In front of you is former fort Spijkerboor. Go right and after 40 metre go left onto Zuiderweg. Then the first road left (Wormerweg). Along this road you will see the beacon on the LHS and fort Spijkerboor at the background.
