Back to the beacon list.

Toulouse Blagnac NDB TN, 25 juli 2007.

This is a beacon page without a beacon photo. You will expect an explanation. It is like this:
Wim van Beek goes in summer 2007 on holiday and visits several beacons around Toulouse. So he puts the coordinates of TN in his navigator system. He ends at a just harvested wheat field. Has he made a mistake with the coordinates? He searched for the beacon about 15 kilometres around the spot. Only one conclusion was available: “this beacon has disappeared.
At home he put the coordinates in Google Earth to check what’s wrong. And see what happens…Google Earth gives the same spot as the navigator. And there is no beacon at this spot. But at this spot you could see that once there was something at this place. The colouring of the earth there shows the surroundings of a space just right for a beacon. And the entrance to this spot was exact at the place where the navigator says you are at your destination. This photo shows the use of the nowadays technical possibilities to see in the past.
Something we wouldn’t keep from you.

The location was just at the west side of the village Monbéqui along the D77. Monbéqui it self is along the N113 from Agen to Toulouse, 40 km north of Toulouse.
